Cherie Jacobs Lane is a staff writer at the Sarasota Herald Tribune. She volunteered to perform at the American Cancer Society's Media Circus. She trained for eight weeks, and performed in two events: The Spanish Web, which involved climbing to the top of a rope and spinning around in circles, and in Globe Walking, by balancing and walking upon a giant 50-pound polyurethane ball. A portion of this photograph was featured on page 40 of the Winter 1997 issue of The Key.
